How many of you people receive an email asking you not to pump petrol on the 24th January 2008? It seems that there are many people are not happy with the rise of oil price. Well, I don’t really like the increase of price myself but we still do need use.
According to the email, it has been calculate that should everyone did not purchase a single drop of petrol for one day, all the oil companies would choke on their stockpiles. At the same time, it would also cause the entire industry with a net loss of over 4.6 billion dollars. It is true that with the increase of petrol price, many other things would increase at the same time.
Airlines and trucking companies would then be force to raise their prices as well. This in turn would cause food, clothing, building supplies, medical supplies that need to be shipped increase. I’m not sure how many people that needed petrol for that day stop pumping petrol. I didn’t pump any petrol on this date as my car tank is still full. Would this “No Petrol Day” really affect those multi billion companies?
