High Density Polyethylene or HDPE is one of the world most commonly used plastic material. This HDPE is a product made from petroleum and is also a thermoplastic. Thermoplastics in layman terms would mean that when it heat is apply to it, it would melt into a liquid state. Because of this, it is a good recyclable product. I didn’t know before this that HDPE is used in so many products like plastic bags, water pipes, folding chairs, and plastic refillable bottles. Even Tupperware plastics uses it.
Anyway, do you know how plastics are recycled into raw fresh material? One way of recycling is using the scrap HDPE. Once the scrap HDPE has been washed and process to remove contaminants, it would be shredded into small strips and flakes. After this process, we would have HDPE regrind. As for HDPE Granules, these are the refined form of HDPE regrind. The reason why most manufacturers uses scrap HDPE is because it helps to lessen the environmental pollution.
To create HDPE granules, all the HDPE regrind are put into an extrusion barrel looking machine. This large heated machine will carry the HDPE through and with a combination of pressure and heat so that a uniform melting is done. While inside the barrel, filtration is done before ejecting the HDPE is ejected out through a die at the end where it will be cut in to HDPE granules. Once these has been cool off, it would be packed and sent off.
This are just some brief intro to HPDE. If you wish to know more in detail about HDPE, you can read the article at HDPEGranules.com website. The HDPE Granules article can be access through this link.
