Did you notice how times flies past by so quickly? In just less than 10 days, the Malays will be starting their fasting period for the month of Ramadhan. Right after this fasting period, the Hari Raya will be celebrated. After that, we will have the Deepavali and follow up by Christmas in the following month. The building that I’m working in has already started putting up outdoor banner stands for the Hari Raya. They even went as far as setting up rollup banner stands together with some poster.
What to do, my office is in a partly government building. Like any other government office, the staff population are mostly Malays. Having them setting up the roll up banner stands this early is expected. I don’t mind the banner stands as like all festival celebration, I’m getting an extra holiday off. Not only that, there will be less traffic on the road as well as Muslim staffs are allowed to leave early. Since they are not having their lunch due to the fasting, they are allowed to leave at 4.30pm as oppose to the normal time of 5.30pm. I don’t mind fasting for lunch and leaving early. To me, fasting during lunch is just a norm to me as I haven’t been having lunch for quite awhile now.
